Christmas breakfast is of great importance. On Christmas Day in the United States, all shops and restaurants close, making it impossible for a family to go out for breakfast. Additionally, everyone is busy preparing the main meal, so there is no lunch to be had; thus, breakfast should be filling enough to sustain one until the dinner feast. With various tastes within a family, only French toast can satisfy everyone.
Since it’s Christmas, the French toast should carry the festive flavor. Cranberries are one of the most commonly used ingredients during Christmas. Turkey is typically served with cranberry sauce, so almost every household uses cranberries, often with leftovers. If you find the combination of turkey and cranberry sauce odd, consider the automatic serving of cranberry sauce with Swedish meatballs at IKEA, and you’ll understand. To avoid waste, the leftover cranberries can be used to make breakfast French toast, which is unique, delicious, and festive. This recipe serves 5 slices of French toast.Ingredients for Homemade Cranberry French Toast:
Bread – 6 slices Eggs – 5 Orange – 1/2 Milk – 1/4 cup Salt – 1/4 teaspoon White sugar – 3 teaspoons Cinnamon powder – 1/4 teaspoon Vanilla extract – 1/2 teaspoon [Cranberry Sauce and Sauce] Fresh cranberries – 350g White sugar – 1/3 cup Orange – 1/2 Method for Homemade Cranberry French Toast: Step 1: First, make the cranberry sauce and sauce. Pour the cranberries and white sugar into a pot, and add the juice of half an orange. Step 2: Cook over medium heat until the cranberries burst. If the juice becomes too thick, add water as needed. Step 3: Cook until it forms a thick sauce, as shown in the picture. Step 4: Use a sieve to filter out the thick cranberry juice (into a white patterned sauce cup). This thick juice is for pouring over the French toast. The leftover cranberry pulp and some of the thick juice are the cranberry sauce (in the white small bowl on the left in the picture below), which can be spread on toast or saved for dinner with turkey – a dual purpose. Step 5: Beat 5 eggs, grate the zest of half an orange, and squeeze the juice of half an orange. Step 6: Add salt, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon powder. Step 7: Add milk and mix well with a whisk. Step 8: Coat the bread in the egg mixture, allowing it to absorb enough liquid. Step 9: Grease the bottom of the pan, cook over medium heat, and fry the bread coated with egg mixture in batches until golden brown on both sides. Step 10: Arrange the bread on a plate, dust with powdered sugar, place a spoonful of cranberry sauce on top, and drizzle cranberry sauce around the plate. The delicious cranberry French toast is ready.
